Does the bible tell us how old God is?
Speaker 1:

The question is, how old is God? Let's start with what is age and how do we determine age? Age deals with passing of time, the amount of time something or someone has existed. Age is a number that represents a span from beginning to the present or beginning to end. In order to determine the age in humans, there must be a beginning.

Speaker 1:

Birth is our starting point. The moment a baby is born, we start counting. We use expressions like the baby is one week old or two months old. As we grow, we celebrate our birthdays. 10 years old, 30 years old, or 70 years old.

Speaker 1:

But what about Adam and Eve who were not born? Even Adam and Eve had age. Their starting point was not birth, but the instant God created them. In Genesis five:five it states, Altogether, Adam lived a total of nine thirty years, then he died. His age is measured in years from the time he was created to the time he died.

Speaker 1:

So now back to the question, how old is God? To answer this question, we will do a five point analysis. Point one. God is the Creator of all things. We read this in the following verses: Genesis one:one In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Speaker 1:

Exodus twenty eleven For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them. John chapter one verse three, Through Him all things were made without Him nothing was made that has been made. Ephesians chapter three verse nine, God who created all things. And then Colossians chapter one verse 16, For in Him all things were created. Point two.

Speaker 1:

The very first verse of the Bible, Genesis one:one, establishes the beginning of time. This is not talking about God's beginning, but the beginning of space, time, and matter This means God existed before time Point three God is not bound by time He exists outside of time The Bible is clear that God has always existed. We see this in the following verses: Deuteronomy 3three 27 The eternal God is your refuge Psalm ninety:two From everlasting to everlasting you are God. Psalm 90 three:two You are from all eternity. Isaiah 5seven 15 For this is what the high and exalted one says, who lives forever.

Speaker 1:

And then Revelation chapter 10 verse six. And he swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them. Point four. God had no beginning. Therefore, we cannot measure His age.

Speaker 1:

We live in the present. God, unlike us, lives in the past, present, and future simultaneously. He does not have to jump to the future to see what is going to happen. He does not have to go back and forth in time. God lives in all time, past, present, future.

Speaker 1:

He lives in all time, all of the time. He does not age. He is neither old nor young. In Isaiah chapter 40 verse 28 it states, Do you not know? Have you not heard?

Speaker 1:

The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary. In His understanding, no one can fathom. And then in Exodus three fourteen, God identified Himself to Moses. He said that his name is I am who I am.

Speaker 1:

God is teaching Moses that his name means he is self existent and eternal. This brings us to point five, a summary and a conclusion. God is the creator of all things. God existed before time. God is not bound by time and God had no beginning.

Speaker 1:

Therefore, we must conclude God does not have an age. He is timeless. He created time and He holds the universe together and without Him nothing could exist.
